J. S. Transformation Story

“I was tired of shaving my underarm area because it caused irritations and pigmentation from years of shaving. I read good reviews about this spa so I decided to give it a try — it was a GREAT decision!” says JS, “Even though I have a darker olive complexion, I saw results after 2-3 laser hair removal treatments. By my 6th treatment, I was only shaving about once every 6-8 weeks. The staff here is super friendly and all the techs are amazing. Very pleasant experience!”*

Laser Hair Removal Q & A

How does laser hair removal work?

The treatment is performed with a handheld device that contains a laser that can target inside the hair shaft as it glides across the skin. The lasers wavelength light gets absorbed by the hair pigment causing the hair follicle to overheat. The process is causing harm to the hair follicle making it difficult for new hair cells to grow. Over a few sessions’ hair can become thinner, and the area can feel smoother.*

Who is an ideal candidate for laser hair removal?

The ideal candidate for hair laser removal has dark, coarse hair. However, the hair density, color, and hormones play a role in the final results.*

How many treatments do I need?

Depending on your hair growth cycle each section you will need up to six sessions spaced four-six weeks apart. Hair has 3 cycles, anagen (beginning stage), catagen (middle stage), and telogen (last stage.) To perfectly target the hair follicles completely, the laser has a better chance of targeting the follicle in the first stage of hair growth. *

What should I know before and after the treatment?

Before:
No plucking, threading, waxing, tanning, spray tans, or bronzers four weeks before.
Stop using skin lighteners, exfoliation products, or bleaching creams two days before.
Shave the day before your appointment.
Don’t wear makeup, lotions, creams, or deodorant when you come in for your treatment.
After:
Don't participate in activities that heat up your skin such as exercise, jacuzzi, hot tub, or sauna.
Limit sun exposure, tanning beds, tanning creams and wear sunscreen.
Avoid skin care products that contain glycolic acid, retinoids and bleaching creams.*

Will the Procedure Hurt?

Laser hair removal is no more painful than waxing. Patients that feel that they will experience discomfort can ask for an ice pack before the procedure.*
